y'know, my dear, 'critiquing' is such a variable word...I don't always know how to take it. Amongst photography friends, we'll tell each other 'bring it on for real!' and have to really let each other know that we're ready for some harsh stuff, IF what we're wanting is critique on the photography itself.
Haha. maybe that made you laugh... but yeah, are you wanting a 'general audience' critique, or a 'photographer's' critique. =) Both are helpful but I find {for me} that the 'general audience' does something more like "ooooh, how cute. I like it." Instead of "you could change this and that and it'd make it even more stunning!"
That was a mouthful. I guess I am talkative tonight.
Regardless, I love your editing on these. Your poses are so creative {nice ideas!} and you definitely have caught personality which I LOVE! For some reason he reminds me of my older brother when he was this age - although my older brother had dark brown hair. :) I love his boots and wish I had me a pair {girl-style} similar to those. :) Been looking, if you have suggestions, let me know!
Hope this helps! These pictures made me smile. And I LOVE outside pictures!
Ruth Ann, Ok, what I was meaning is I kinda' wondered on the coloring of some of them if it makes the kids look sick... don't laugh, ok :)... I like desaturated, vintage pictures, but anyways, sometimes I have a hard time finding the balance that I like. I'm kinda' picky about it. So, that's mainly what I was thinking of getting feedback on.
ok, ok...thanks for explaining. I wasn't trying to be rude...
and most honestly, there's next to nothing about your poses that I don't like. you're always so creative!
that said, this last one of Josiah seems to me that he is a bit 'ashen.' I wondered about it at first, but the other ones seem to have a nice balance. I know, it can be hard to have lower saturation and 'normal' looking people. I try to play with the contrast and stuff, and ever so slightly bump the saturation down - cause just a teensy move on the slider can change a lot! or even you could play with the white balance and bump some more yellow/warmer tones in there - just a tiny bit.
Love these photos Susan, Josiah is such a sweet little guy. :)
Caleb is turning 6 next week and I had wanted to try and take some pictures of him, can I copy cat your poses to have something to go by? Pretty please? :)
Caleb is in love with his boots now as well and wear them e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e!! Do you have any tips or ideas? My house is so small I really don't have space inside to do pics so I was hoping to go outside but I'm not sure where I should do them. Do you use a flash outside?
Sorry to be asking so many questions, hehe. And Ruth Ann if you have any ideas to share, please do! :)
And really, these expressions on Josiah's face are too precious. ♥
Jenifer, I don't mind. They're not "my" poses. :) I'm always looking for new ideas too and other times I have brainstorms where I have like 100 ideas in my head but we only get to about 10. I'll answer your other questions when I have a little more time, which isn't right now... I'm in the middle of school. :)

Ruth Ann,
Thanks so much... I do notice that he looks more gray in that last one than in the other ones. Hadn't noticed it before. Thanks!
